While ‘Barturot’ is Beppe’s emblematic Dolcetto, drawn from old vines and built to age, his ‘Vilot’ (first made in 1996) expresses the more classic face of Dolcetto as an ‘everyday’ wine, albeit with Ca’ Viola’s trademark depth and structure. The 'Vilot' is a pure wine with notes of sour plum, blackberry and hints of warm bitumen, licorice and spice. The palate is fruit intense but mid-weight with a bright though distinctly savoury and refined feel, with tight tannins and bright acidity providing definition. R&R
